Sleep

I read that when daughters turn on mothers and sons turn on fathers that the world would come to an end.
And with natural disasters and everyday hassels it makes it hard to win.
I was taught that, "even the sun goes down", to make me try again.
And I was told by you, "the moon is always there... I just have to look deep within".

When we first met I would watch you sleep... wondering if we would part.
And to this day I still watch you sleep... but now I watch with my heart.
Even when I had my doubts in the beginning you still promised me we would never part.
10 years together and a beautiful daughter later I role over still... there you are.

So you sleep and I watch is the story untold.
You sleep and I'll watch as your beauty unfolds.
You sleep and I'll watch with my heart and my soul.
And you sleep and I'll watch... until we both grow old.

Good night Aliceson.

  1. I know it's been a while! But as always thank you guys for taking the time. please let me know what you think. Anyone that knows me already knows my family is my world. The original poem was written for Aliceson back in about 2005 before we were married. Thank you again. More will follow soon.

  2. This is very sweet. When you stand before God, the pastor, your family and friends; you say your vows with your lips. After ups and downs, opportunities and obstacles, you begin to live those vows and carry them in your heart. I love that you watch her sleep...beautiful
